River' is an important motif in Huang Yuxing's works, which stems from his thinking on 'time' - that is, to use 'water' to represent the flow of time. The irreversible and eternal flow of the river is like time, with almost decisive indifference, while the bubbles produced by the river are the tiny products rolled up by the surging torrents, which are born and burst instantly, indicating a tragic color based on fatalism. In this regard, the artist condenses the transient flow of the water into the infinite artistic expression.
Huangyuxing's creation of 'River' can be traced back to 2008. At this time, he was still in the black-and-white monochrome period. After the idea of taking 'River' as the object came into being, he began to turn to 'yellow' and 'black' as the main colors, and painted some faces, heads and organs floating on the river. After that, 'River' gradually evolved into a relatively complete and independent creative theme, and became his favorite continuous creative object. It can be said that the continuous deepening of the theme of 'River' stems from huangyuxing's inner observation, which also condenses his experience of the passage of time.
Created in 2014, the Rain of the River Seine (Lot 1103) is a rare rain scene in the river series. In the horizontal and vertical dimensions, the picture is interwoven with the lines of the two opposite forms: curved and straight: countless water drops fall vertically on the water surface, and immediately blend into the running river after triggering waves of ripples, starting another never-ending journey. Using 'line', the most basic modeling element, the artist has formed a complex and rhythmic picture structure in the interactive relationship of flow, intersection and circulation, which makes the flexibility and subtlety of the rain scene leap on the canvas. In terms of color use, this work also adheres to the artist's iconic color technique. Through the superposition and blending of high-purity fluorescent colors, colorful auxiliary colors and blue as the main color complement each other, creating a joyful and joyful visual symphony in the flow and collision. At the same time, the artist also rarely used two incompatible painting materials, propylene and oil paint, in the rain of the river Seine. With his superb skills in controlling different media, Huang Yuxing fully explored the physical characteristics of the two materials, achieving a perfect visual balance and a mysterious and poetic picture atmosphere between thick and light, thick and thin, blending and exclusion, dissociation and polymerization.
In the magnificent pictures, the common painting theme of 'rain scene' and the real space represented by it are endowed with a surreal meaning by the artist. For Huang Yuxing, the relationship between rain and river just implies a cycle of life - water molecules evaporate from the river and turn into rain. After circulation, rain returns to the body of the river fatally due to the guidance of gravity. In the irreversible passage of time, the migration of water molecules not only makes the river never die, but also gives the river new life and shape - those lonely moments, the flow of time, sad sighs, and even the pleasure of rebirth and immersion ecstasy, which are recorded in Huang Yuxing's paintings.
After the 'River' series, Huang Yuxing once again overturned the image style of the past and created the bizarre 'treasure' series in 2016. In the 'treasure' series, there are some strange and colorful unknown crystals. Large and small oval crystals collide and squeeze with each other in the deep plane space, and continue to separate and fuse, eventually giving birth to countless possibilities, as if the birth of cosmic civilization. In Huang Yuxing's view, this series is about wisdom, civilization and energy.
